Since June 2001 Pelosi has been a Foreign Legal Consultant in Florida: the first Italian in the state, he is one of the few in the United States to have this recognition, which allows him to work in legal consultancy on an equal footing with Americans. Pelosi made it after three years of examinations, waiting, green light from Connecticut commission and final decision from Florida Supreme Court. Moreover, in this State alone, the Foreign Legal Consultants (who cannot do litigation) today are four in all, including two Mexicans and an Ecuadorian.On the other hand, about twenty Italian attorneys authorized to practice litigation in the United States, without being supported by overseas lawyers. The confidence that Pelosi has gained in North America has therefore convinced McDermott-Will & Emery who proposed him the wedding in Italy. But he is waiting at the moment. With the merger, in fact, the risk is to lose one’s professional identity. Better, for now, a simple representation.
